Funding Utilisation
How funding is spent
Research projects vary widely in their funding needs according to the complexity of the factors affecting the disease and difficulties in collecting the data.
At the lower end of the project costs are diseases such as migraine, and acne where a detailed questionnaire, or questionnaire and postal sample, will provide the necessary research data without the need for individual visits. Research time, though difficult to predict, can also be modest in some studies. Where a detailed clinical examination of twin pairs within a selected group is necessary, costs typically exceed £100,000.
The CDRF, unlike other charities will accept suggestions for disease areas to study- depending on size of donation.
